About RAM
RAM Mutual Insurance
Company was incorporated in
1931 as the Farm Mutual Reinsurance Association of Minnesota.
The company's name was changed in 1957 to the Farm
Mutual Reinsurance Association and again in 1967 to the
Reinsurance Association of Minnesota. On January 1, 2000 the
company's name was again changed to RAM Mutual Insurance
Company, a name that reflects our current operation.
RAM was founded by a group of
Minnesota township mutual insurance companies for the purpose
of providing reinsurance to these companies. As the needs of
the township mutuals and their agency force grew and changed,
RAM responded by expanding its products and services. As the
reinsurer of the majority of Minnesota township mutuals, RAM
provides loss prevention and investigation services as well as
other forms of assistance to the township mutuals.
In
response to the needs of
township mutual agents for a farm workers compensation market,
RAM entered the direct business in 1974. Additional personal
and commercial products have since been introduced. RAM now
offers a full line of products to approximately 600 independent insurance
agencies across Minnesota, servicing approximately 42,000 policyholders.
